Tiny Tot Town teaches kids how St. Joseph runs

St. Joseph kids got a chance to learn all about how the city runs on Tuesday thanks to Tiny Tot Town at Civic Arena.
Hosted by St. Joe Parents as Teachers MO Curriculum Partner, Tiny Tot Town is an interactive, simulated community designed to show and teach children how the town runs.
“It’s where community businesses come and introduce themselves to early learners in our community,” said La’Sherrie Tyes, a parent educator with the St. Joe Parents as Teachers MO Curriculum Partner. “It’s a great way for our kids to learn about what’s available in our city and in our town.”
It also teaches them forms of real world experiences.
“They’re going to have to grow up one day and they’re going to have to live in the real world,” said Lela Knadler, a volunteer at the event.
But for now…kids can just pretend.
The event held two sessions, the first one from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the second from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
About 26 local businesses participated, showing kids different aspects of life in St. Joseph for adults.
