Parents of children who receive free and reduced lunch may be entitled to new benefits.

The St. Joseph School District just announced Missouri’s approval of the Summer EBT 2024 program. This program is made possible by the Department of Social Services and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Summer EBT gives children who qualify for free and reduced lunch the chance to receive nutrition benefits through the Missouri SuN Bucks program. The SuN Bucks program offers qualifying families up to $120 onto an EBT card per child to buy nutritious food at participating stores during summer months.

To qualify you must meet at least one of the following requirements:

Must participate in SNAP or Temporary Assistance

Your child must be between the ages of 7 and 17 and is in foster care, homeless, or a migrant

Your child must attend a school that offers the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program, and your household income meets the requirements for Free or Reduced Price Meals.

To see if your child qualifies, visit mydss.mo.gov/sunbucks-eligibility.

Those eligible can apply at app.healthytogether.co/register. Applications are due Aug. 31.
