Two leading agricultural businesses in St. Joseph are now recognized as the $12 million Convergent Technology Alliance Center nears completion.
The CTAC, a co-project of Missouri Western State University, North Central Missouri College and various public and private sponsors, is under construction on Missouri Western’s campus ahead of a scheduled opening for the 2024-25 academic year. One of its compartments is to be named the Triumph Foods and Daily’s Premium Meats Industrial Technology Bay, after the two firms backed the project.
“The meatpacking industry has played a distinguished and significant role in the economy of St. Joseph from its earliest days, and I’m pleased that history will be reflected in CTAC,” University President Elizabeth Kennedy said in a news release. “We are extremely grateful to Triumph Foods and Daily’s Premium Meats for their support of the project, and proud that we can recognize that support by naming a portion of CTAC in their honor.”
Past sponsoring businesses that obtained naming rights are Gray Manufacturing, Altec Industries, Inc. and Humach, LLC. Aside from the naming rights, Triumph Foods is joining the CTAC Leadership Board, to oversee various training programs.
“We are one of the most technically advanced pork production plants in the country, and our need for highly skilled team members is constantly growing,” Triumph Foods President and CEO Matt England said in a news release. “We are excited that MWSU, NCMC and the other community business partners are investing in developing the workforce of tomorrow, and proud to support this transformational project.”
Triumph employs more than 2,400 workers and produces more than 1.5 billion pounds of pork each year, the university said; the firm also owns a 50% stake in Daily’s, which has a local bacon plant.
