An employee of the St. Joseph School District is serving a paid suspension pending an investigation of unknown cause, News-Press NOW learned Thursday.

In response to questions given to him on a phone call, Superintendent Gabe Edgar said he can’t discuss any specifics about the case. Therefore, who this employee is, where he or she works, why the person is serving a suspension, how long it will last and when the investigation began are all questions thus far without an answer.

Edgar issued a followup statement on Friday.

“The district is unable to comment on confidential personnel matters,” he said via email. “Please know, however, that if allegations of misconduct are relayed to the district, we thoroughly investigate and respond to those allegations in accordance with board policy and the law. The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is the district’s highest priority.”

Capt. Jeff Wilson of the St. Joseph Police Department said via email that no arrests have been made on the matter.
