St. Joseph’s hometown university will not be in normal operations on Wednesday to celebrate the NFL Super Bowl LVIII champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Missouri Western State University’s campus will be closed in honor of the Chiefs, amid the official parade that is being organized by the Kansas City Sports Commission in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Many of the university’s students commute from Kansas City, the university noted in a news release.

“In recognition of the difficulties this will present to our students, faculty and staff who commute from Kansas City, and in appreciation for the hard work so many of you play in helping us host training camp each year, Missouri Western State University classes will be canceled and campus will be closed,” University President Elizabeth Kennedy said in the news release. “Celebrate the day safely and responsibly, and Go Chiefs!”

Students are advised to consult with individual professors on whether or not there will be a need to do any work online or attend a virtual session of class.
