Clarence Green is concluding 28 years of service to Northwest Missouri State University and will retire effective March 31, according to a news release.

A Class of 1994 baccalaureate alumnus from East St. Louis, Illinois, Green became a university employee in 1996 and took on several roles, most persistently as chief of the University Police Department since 1997. He became vice president of culture in 2019, a role overseeing the police as well as human resources and institutional research. A crowning achievement came in 2022, when the Northwest Board of Regents named him interim university president in place of John Jasinski. Green passed the torch to Lance Tatum, the 11th permanent president, in June 2023, resuming previous duties.

“I am incredibly grateful for the experiences, growth and countless memories I have gained during my time with Northwest,” Green said in the news release. “The opportunities for personal and professional development that I have been provided have been invaluable. I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented students, faculty and staff, and I am sincerely thankful for the support and mentorship I have received throughout the years.”
