Charges filed in I-29 road rage incident

A Savannah, Missouri, man is charged with a felony count of unlawful use of a weapon in connection with a road rage incident Wednesday morning on Interstate 29.
At just before 8 a.m. on Jan. 15, the St. Joseph Police Department received a 911 call reporting a road rage incident on northbound I-29 near the 49-mile marker in Buchanan County. The victim, whose name was not released but that officials identified as a 47-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, stated his car was fired at with a gun and hit by another vehicle, according to a probable cause statement filed in the case.
Police were able to track the vehicle the gunshot came from to a Savannah residence, and the driver was identified as Amouir M. Standiford, 27.
Dash camera video of the incident shows the victim’s vehicle driving behind Standiford on I-29 and flashing its lights at him in what the driver said was an attempt to get Standiford to move over to the right lane so he could pass, the probable cause report said. The video then shows Standiford slowing and coming to a stop in the left lane with the victim following closely then driving around Standiford and a sound consistent with a gunshot being heard as he passed, court records said.
The video goes on to show the victim pulling in front of Standiford and slowing rapidly, causing Standiford to hit the victim’s car, the probable cause statement said. The victim then followed Standiford to Savannah while calling police.
Standiford is being held at the Buchanan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
