St. Joseph police are investigating after residents reported shots were fired between two cars involved in a chase at about 11 a.m. Thursday in the 2400 block of Seneca Street.

Capt. Jeff Wilson with the St. Joseph Police Department said two cars, a gold Jeep Commander and a white Dodge Durango, were engaged in a chase. As one car was in pursuit of the other, shots were fired from one of the vehicles, which police confirmed by finding shell casings on the ground.

Wilson said the white Dodge ran into a building at some point during the chase, breaking a back window.

Neither of the cars has been located.

There have been no reports of any injuries, but police are in contact with the emergency room at Mosaic Life Care to see if anyone comes forward with gun-related injuries.
