Jon Eivins, an R.N. at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri, said he thinks wearing Chiefs attire at work creates a sense of ‘comradery’ among employees.

Many businesses in St. Joseph are allowing employees to wear Kansas City Chiefs attire to work this week ahead of Super Bowl LIX.

Mosaic Life Care is one workplace letting staff show their Chiefs spirit.

Jon Eivins, a Registered Nurse at Mosaic and longtime Chiefs fan said, wearing team gear projects a welcoming environment for patients.

“It’s a great conversation starter with our patients,” Eivins said. “So then you start talking about the game and predictions. And everybody loves to see Chiefs gear. So it brings a more relaxed atmosphere with the patient … so they trust in us a little more.”

Eivins also said employees also can connect through their shared love of the team.

“You can tell the Super Bowl is such a major event, and letting the employees express their team spirit and things like that, it builds great comradery across the whole system and builds just that much more excitement for the day when it happens,” Eivins said.

The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce also allowed employees to wear Chiefs gear this week.

Director of Communications and Marketing for the Chamber Kristi Bailey, explained why its important for local businesses to allow celebration for the hometown team.

“Being the home of training camp, St. Joseph has a lot to be proud of with the Chiefs,” Bailey said. “It helps morale, it helps build the excitement for the game when employers let their employees kind of let their hair down and wear Chiefs gear all week.”

The Super Bowl LIX match between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles begins at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9.
