Community members were able to pick up one last drink from a local coffee shop before they closed their doors on Friday.

Toe Beans Coffee House is serving drinks from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, marking the last day to buy beverages from the shop.

The owner of the coffee shop, Sara Parks, announced on social media last month that the business would be closing.

Parks explained more about the closure while sharing hope for the future.

“We weren’t meeting overhead in our current location and we weren’t able to transition into anywhere else in town right now to make those numbers work, so we’re gonna shut down for a little bit,” Parks said. “Hopefully in the future we can open back up again, but right now that’s just not possible with our budget.”

Regular customer Janie Obermier shared that she has had a great experience with the shop and spoke highly of Parks.

“You’re a name here, you’re not just a customer, you’re a friend,” Obermier said. “And I’m excited to see what she (Parks) does next. ‘Cause she’s so organized and so friendly and so welcoming.”

The customers have been one of Parks’ favorite parts of running the shop.

“I’m super sad to leave all of my regulars because they’re really really good regulars,” Parks said.

Parks said that she has enjoyed watching Downtown grow throughout her time running the coffee shop.

“Seeing like the growth in Downtown and like building our community has been really really nice,” Parks said.

Toe Beans will have a closing sale on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 28 and 29, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for merchandise, furnishing and more.

Parks said that although her business is leaving, there are still many local shops Downtown to support.

“Everybody else, come support what’s left Downtown ’cause there’s a whole bunch here and it’s gonna keep growing,” Parks said.
