New businesses open in St. Joseph

New businesses are opening their doors at several locations around town.
Black Kat Salvage II is an antique store located at 902 Edmond St. that features multiple vendors. The store is full of vintage items, clothing and more.
“It’s just an eclectic mix of items that people have collected over the years and they’re just trying to downsize,” manager Jan Ruoff said. “It’s fun collectors that like to just buy and sell.”
Triple Play, located down the road from Black Kat Salvage at 510-A Edmond St., is another new business in town. It sells accessories for billiards, cornhole, darts and disc golf.
Lindsey Bernard, co-owner of Triple Play, said the need for this type of sports equipment in St. Joseph is where the idea for the store came from.
“Trying to find product was difficult at some times,” Bernard said. “So to have a storefront, to have a place where people can (have a) hands-on experience, try things out and really pick the best product and have great customer service is important.”
Across town, McBee’s Coffee & Carwash, 3016 N. Belt Highway, had its grand opening in St. Joseph on Thursday. It provides a place to clean your car along with coffee and dog washes.
Linda Kretzer, a St. Joseph resident, said it’s important to support local businesses like these.
“They thrive to stay open from people in the community like me that comes in,” Kretzer said. “They need our help just as much as we need theirs.”
