Willis Clark Griggs Jr., 89, of St. Joseph, passed away April 27, 2025. Willis was born Nov. 27, 1935, in St. Joseph, to Willis “Clark”, Sr. and Agnes (Pugh) Griggs.

Willis was a 1954 graduate of Lafayette High School. He served for over 20 years in the Missouri National Guard in the Signal Corp. He worked for KFEQ in sales. He then worked at Krause Mill working his way up to management, and retired as a Maintenance Master Electrician for Prime Tanning.

He married Norma Westfall and she preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents; son, Rodney Griggs; daughter, Lesa Myer; brother, Jerry Griggs; step-daughter, Marcia Velazquez; and grandson, Benjamin Velazquez.

Survivors include son-in-law, Todd Myer; son-in-law, Randy Velazquez; step-children, Kay Phillippe (Jim), Mark Smith (Mary); nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Moila Shrine. He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, and the Kansas City Chiefs. His biggest love was his dog, Max, and he let everyone know about him.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, April 30, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Services will be Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow at Savannah Cemetery. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
