Bayer, Carolyn S. 1953-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Carolyn Sue Bayer 71, of St Joseph, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at a local health care center. She was born June 10, 1953, in St. Joseph, daughter of Bonnie and Carl Leer.

Carolyn was married to Roland Bayer for 40 years and was a devoted housewife and mother to her family. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, spending time outdoors, going camping and fishing, and crafting.

Carolyn was preceded in death by husband, Roland Bayer in 2023; her parents; brother, Clifford Leer; sister, Carlene Jolly; and granddaughter, Brandy Watts.

Survivors include: sons, Brian (Andrea) Bayer and Ernest (Melissa) Bayer, both of St. Joseph; daughters, Charlotte (Dean) Berry, of St. Joseph, and Rosemary (Jeremy) Murphy, of St. Joseph; siblings, Gary Leer, of Texas, Debbie Leer, of St. Joseph, Penny Christopher, of Iowa, and Carl Leer Jr. (Joanna Grooms), of St. Joseph; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be 6 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home with Chaplain Dennis Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. on Monday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Ms. Bayer will be cremated following services with Inurnment following at Agency Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are requested to the Freudenthal Hospice.
