The Knight’s of Columbus Annual Fish Fry kicks off next Friday, March 4th.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — As Lent continues, St. James Church and the Knights of Columbus are partnering together to host Fish Fry Fridays.

The event will go from 5 to 8 p.m. every Friday throughout the month of March at 5814 King Hill Ave.

The event will also have fish, potatoes, coleslaw and for people to enjoy.

Proceeds collected will go toward helping the community.

"We raise money for our homeless, we raise money for our children, to get wheelchairs for kids," Grand Knight Galen Higdon said. "A lot of them need this community in our parish, we try to take care of things with the parish meetings and that's what this group benefits from."

In the Catholic religion, those who participate in Lent activities are traditionally required to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and every Friday during the season.

The last Fish Fry event will be at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 28 at Saint James Church.
