See St. Joseph: Irish celebrations and cosmic education

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — Another work week is ending, meaning another weekend filled with hometown fun awaits. From Irish celebrations to cosmic education, this week’s edition of See St. Joseph has you covered.
This Friday, InspireU and The Den are keeping their eyes on the sky for the upcoming Worm Moon and celebrating the occasion with an evening of “Cosmic Cocktails and Constellations.” St. Joseph will witness a Worm Moon Friday night, which is a total eclipse of the moon by Earth at the same time of a full moon phase. Sip celestial-inspired drinks crafted by The Den while enjoying breathtaking rooftop views of the shimmering night sky. There also will be guided stargazing sessions led by astronomy educator Patrick Hess, an astronomy activity, a charcuterie provided by Ugly Duck and of course, celestial inspired drinks provided by The Den. The evening of cosmic awe goes from 7 to 10 p.m. on March 14 at InspireU, 521 Felix St. Tickets can be purchased at inspireu.com.
But don’t stay up too late looking at the night sky because the 39th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is happening Saturday, March 15. Every year, this parade brings in hundreds of St. Joseph residents to celebrate their Irish heritage, support the Second Harvest Food Bank and just have a great day at a parade. The News-Press NOW crew will be walking in the parade and handing out candy to viewers. The parade begins at noon Saturday from Frederick and Noyes and ends at Eighth and Felix streets.
Fans of classic rock rejoice because a tribute to ‘80s rock ‘n’ roll royalty is coming to St. Joseph for “One Night of Queen.” Gary Mullen & The Works will be at the Missouri Theater, 717 Edmond St., so St. Joseph can experience the magic of Queen once again. Get ready to sing along to all the classics: “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” “We Are the Champions” and many more. “One Night of Queen” is, of course, one night only, 5 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at the Missouri Theater. Tickets can be purchased online at paastjo.org.
Whether watching a historical parade, a breathtaking night sky or an icon live and in person, St. Joseph has it all. Tune in to News-Press NOW every Thursday for more See St. Joseph.
