Cajun eatery makes small move downtown

By Kirsten Stokes News-Press NOW

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) Serving Cajun cuisine and an atmosphere to match, Boudreaux's Louisiana Seafood and Steaks has moved locations downtown.

The move marks a new chapter for the restaurant while maintaining its commitment to serving the same Cajon flavors that have made it a staple downtown.

Previously located on corner of Jules and fourth street, Boudreaux's will now welcome guest at 123 S 6th St. Manager, Samantha Vicker said the move was more feasible as they already owned the building and Jakes Steakhouse and Sports Bar.

"We made the move here because we own this building, so it just made sense to move to a location that we own," Vicker said. "We were renting the other location, and our lease was up March 1st."

The new downtown location features two floors for dine-in experiences, an updated balcony that pays homage to Louisiana's rich culture and a bar area for social gatherings.

While the move downtown is expected to bring more visitors according to Vicker, Lisa Payne, a regular customer, said she's excited to not only support a local eatery, but for the renovations that bring a more modern take to the restaurants theme.

"I just like the atmosphere down here," Payne said. "I mean, it's just really cool and I like being able to help out the businesses downtown."

Enjoying entrées like Étouffée, regular customer Cindy Remelius was impressed with the new location as well.

"I like to support businesses, the local people and stuff," Remelius said. "But again, I really love Cajun food, so it's my go to."

Boudreaux's restaurant officially opened its new doors Feb. 28. Regular business hours are Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

"With our balcony and everything, we've kind of tried to make a more New Orleans feel," Vicker said. "I feel like there's more stuff that happens down in this area than where we were, so we're just kind of hoping to help downtown out at our new location."
