See St. Joseph: Music, gospel and bingo

With harsh winter weather (hopefully) finally behind us, it's time to get out of the house and do something. This week's edition of See St. Joseph highlights the weekend's best entertainment.
St. Joseph is filled with aspiring musicians ready to show off their skills and what better way to do so than with the 43rd annual Monster Concert? This high-energy musical showcase proves that two is better than one with dozens of musicians working together with a couple of pianists per keyboard. The concert also features guitar and string ensembles all working together in a powerful display of collaboration and musicianship. Proceeds for the concert will go to music scholarships for college students and funding for summer music camps for kids of all ages. The concert begins at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, in the Potter Fine Arts Theatre at Missouri Western State University. Tickets are $8 for adults at the door and $6 for students and seniors.
The Metropolitan is presenting the ultimate bingo night showdown with a "Lovers vs Singles" night. Lovers wear red together, while singles wear pink. Not only will there be several rounds of music bingo but also themed drinks, as well as Big Chad’s BBQ. There will even be a matchmaker game for those in pink who would like to switch to red. It’s all happening at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at The Metropolitan, 107 S. Sixth St. The entry fee is $10 at the door.
This weekend, let’s all raise our hands in celebration of MidCity Excellence’s seventh annual Gospel Heritage Fest: Heart and Soul. This celebration of community and culture honors the heritage of the MidCity Excellence youth. There will be singing, dancing and even performances from the St. Joe Stixx and the TrashCan Band. The show begins at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at East Hills Shopping Center, 3702 Frederick Ave. The festival is free to attend, but MidCity Excellence is accepting donations through its Venmo and Network for Good donation page.
