Collins, Joy L. 1937-2025 Clarksdale, Mo.


CLARKSDALE, Mo. - Joy Luella Collins, 87, of Clarksdale, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, in St. Joseph. She was born July 14, 1937, in Wathena, Kansas, daughter of Helen and Joseph Springs. She attended Kirschner School. On Sept. 15, 1955, she married Russell Dean Collins.
Joy worked on the Production Line at Quaker Oats. While working full time, she was also a full time mother, housekeeper, farmer, hunter, gardener, fisherman, and cooked a spread fit for a king every evening for supper. She enjoyed bird watching, word searches, and loved taking care of others. She especially enjoyed hosting gatherings and spending time with her family. She was a devout Christian and prayer warrior, and above all loved Jesus with all of her heart. She was a member of Oak Christian Church, and also attended Word of Life Church.
Joy was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Rhoads; father, Joseph Springs; husband, Russell Dean Collins; daughters, Brenda Snyder, Raunda Wiley; son, Russell "Wayne" Collins; brothers, Frankie Springs and Harlen Springs; grandson, Tyler Collins; and great-granddaughter, Kendall Collins.
Survivors include sisters, Donna (Sam) Smith, of Osborn, Missouri, and Debbie (Guy) Barker, of Clarksdale; grandchildren, Carla (Kevin) Johnson, of St. Joseph, Jennene (Jeff) Noah, of Clarksdale, and Billy Collins, of Clarksdale; seven great-grandchildren; and her daughter- in-law, Kim Collins, of Clarksdale.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at Oak Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home. Interment will follow the Services at the Oak Cemetery. Memorials in Joy's name are requested to the Oak Christian Church.
