Mid-Missouri schools make changes for Friday due to snowfall
The Jefferson City School District, Columbia Public Schools, Mexico Public Schools, Fulton Public Schools, North Callaway R-1, and Southern Boone R-1 will all be closed today.

Forecast: Tracking snow showers, slick roads for morning commute
We are starting off this morning with snow showers and covered roads. Roads are slick this morning, add extra time and take it slow.

What to know gearing up for more snow in mid-Missouri
As mid-Missouri gears up for between 1 and 3 inches of snow overnight Thursday and into Friday morning, clean-up crews are getting prepared to keep the roads as safe as possible.
Greg Edington, the director of Boone County Road & Bridge, said he will have a crew of about eight workers out from 7 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday to salt roads throughout the night before the Friday morning commute.
Sgt. Kyle Green of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said drivers need to be extremely vigilant before hitting the roads over the next several days.
Jefferson City man set for arraignment in two child molestation cases
Charges were filed against Jimmie Lee Payne, 38, in November and December for the two cases. He faces charges of second-degree child molestation and attempted child molestation in connection to an alleged incident Nov. 3.
He also faces charges of second-degree child molestation, statutory rape and being at a park as a registered sex offender in connection to incidents reportedly lasting from April through November, according to court documents.
Payne is listed on the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s sex offender registry for a child molestation conviction in 2017.
Fulton police investigating homicide after reported incident at Fulton State Hospital
The incident reportedly happened Tuesday, and there is no threat to the public, the police department said in a statement released Thursday.
Police said they will release more details Friday.
Lower pharmacy school enrollment, insurance reimbursements create ‘perfect storm’ for Missouri pharmacies
During the 2023 fiscal year in Missouri, total intern pharmacists decreased 28%, which marks the largest decline since 2016. Nationwide, pharmacy student rates fell by 16.3% in 2022, according to the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.
Now, UMKC’s pharmacy program is focusing on developing the pipeline to pharmacy school by offering a pharmacy technician class in a Kansas City-area high school, offering an introductory class at MU for undergraduates and pre-pharmacy clubs.
