Columbia woman sentenced to probation for March death of pedestrian on I-70
A Columbia woman was sentenced to five years probation Monday after being charged in July with manslaughter in the death of a pedestrian on Interstate 70.
Tyia Alisa Bush, 38, allegedly called emergency services around 1 a.m. on March 20, and said she thought she had hit a deer on I-70 westbound.
Around 1 p.m. that day, officers received calls about a man lying in the median, when they found Ezekiel Rachow, 30, deceased in the median, according to previous KOMU 8 reporting.
Bush was sentenced on Monday to five years probation for a second-degree felony involuntary manslaughter charge and five days probation for a misdemeanor charge of carelessly operating a motor vehicle.
Bush was charged in July and was being held at the Boone County Jail. A bond of $1,500 was posted on July 8.
