The National Youth Advocate Program is appreciating foster parents everywhere and celebrating the contributuions of all foster parents.  

Kayla Heckaman with the natinal youth advocate program, is a licensing coordinator who helps those intersted in foster care become parents and provides them with resources and training.

In the state of Missouri, over 12,000 kids are in foster care in need of a home. Many of which are accompanied by a sibling.  

On of the common trends that heckaman sees in the foster care system is a lack of parents to house siblings and more than one child at a time nationwide.

Foster parent, Gina Raber is coming up on 2 years of fostering with her husband and says that the experiencecan not be done alone, but also recognized that not everyone has the resources they need.
