Motorcyclist killed in morning crash at Interstate 229 exit

A St. Joseph man is dead after being hit by a driver heading in the wrong direction on an Interstate 229 exit ramp early Friday morning. 

Ryan Coffman of St. Joseph was northbound on I-229 at about 5 a.m. this morning when he was struck and killed by a driver in a Honda CRV heading in the wrong direction. 

The crash occurred midway through the exit ramp as Coffman drove off of I-229 on his Harley Davidson motorcycle.  

The driver of the Honda CRV, who has not been identified, is not under arrest at this time as St. Joseph police continue their investigation.  

Police said the family of Coffman has been notified.
