Throughout the month of December, Bulls Gap School held a food drive to collect items for the Bulls Gap Community Food Pantry.

The food drive was sponsored by the BGS Student Council in partnership with Apex Bank.

Students in pre-K through eighth grade brought in canned foods and nonperishable items. A total of 1,337 items came in, and those foodstuffs were delivered to the new Bulls Gap Community Food Pantry the week before Christmas.

There was also a competition to see which classroom could bring in the most food, with the winning classes in K-5 and in 6-8 receiving a pizza party courtesy of Apex Bank and the Student Council.

The BGS Beta Club also hosted a toy drive in early December for the children impacted by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. Students partnered with Isaiah 54:10 Ministry, founded by Surgoinsville residents Richard and Monica Conley, to assist hurricane victims.

The final day of the toy collection was Dec. 13, and the donated items were delivered to those in need in time for Christmas.
