ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- The leader of the 139th Airlift Wing will head the 2025 Apple Blossom parade next month.

Commander Barrett Golden has been selected to be the grand marshal, reflecting the military theme of the parade, "Salute!" The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, at Noyes Boulevard and Frederick Avenue.

Golden, who heads the Air National Guard Base at Rosecrans Memorial Airport, is a California native. He joined the Air National Guard in 1999, earning his wings as a C-130 pilot and moving to Missouri in 2011 for a position at the Advanced Airlift Tactics Training Center at the 139th Airlift Wing.

Golden played a role in several operations, including Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Inherent Resolve and Resolute Support.

“We are honored to have Col. Golden as our grand marshal as we celebrate the military with our 'Salute!' theme this year,” said Apple Blossom Executive Director Michelle Wolfe.
