Choral Experience, which brings together Missouri Western students with professional singers, is planning its first concert on April 6.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — A new choral group in St. Joseph is making plans for its debut concert.

The Choral Experience, a professional-level choral ensemble in collaboration with the Missouri Western State University Chamber Choir and the MoWest Chamber Orchestra, will have its inaugural concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, at First Presbyterian Church, 301 N. Seventh St.

The group brings together professional musicians, educators, church musicians and alumni with members of the MWSU Chamber Choir.

"Music from the Age of Enlightenment" will include Franz Schubert’s "Mass No. 2 in G Major," Mozart’s "Ave verum corpus" and Michael Haydn’s "Ex Sion species." Dein Gentry, a soprano, Timothy Ellis, a tenor, and Kyle Minx, a baritone, will have solo performances.

“This concert is a celebration of timeless music and shared musical excellence,” said Paul Dease, the group's founder and artistic director. “We are thrilled to present this program to the St. Joseph community and to offer a musical experience that is both artistically rich and historically resonant.”

Admission to the concert is free, but an offering will be accepted.
