Mayor hosts annual Christmas party for St. Joseph children

On Saturday morning, children were invited to Bode Ice Arena for the Mayor’s Children’s Christmas Party.
The free event began with performances from the Griffon Gliders who entertained the crowd with several routines.
Following the performances, Santa arrived to ice skate with the community and take pictures.
Mayor John Josendale said his favorite part of the event is watching the children have fun.
“It’s a lot of fun for a lot of people,” Josendale said. “And when you see the kids’ faces light up…when they see Santa and Santa comes in, it’s just really exciting.”
8-year-old Maylea Moss shared why she was excited to be at the event.
“To skate and see Santa,” Moss said. “And to have fun.”
Josendale expressed gratitude for the help of the parks department in putting the party together, adding that they also enjoy the event.Â
“The parks department loves this too,” Josendale said. “They love getting ready for it, they love seeing the kids and being involved.”
The annual event has occurred at the Bode Ice Arena for the past 40 years, providing holiday cheer to generations of St. Joseph children.
