The Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art held a dollmaking class on Wednesday to help attendees create their own “Old World Santa” dolls.

The workshop was led by Marylin Huskamp and she helped community members make a unique, festive Christmas decoration.

This is the third dollmaking workshop that Huskamp has hosted at the museum this year, with a Halloween-themed doll in October and an art doll this past summer.

Alex Asher, the director of education at the museum, explained that the dolls were created from scratch.

“We’re doing everything from the wire armature inside, wrapping it and then hand-sewing all of the clothing,” Asher said.

Asher shared her favorite part of the workshop.

“I‘ve learned a few new things about how to do the details and the clothing, so that’s been a lot of fun,” Asher said.

The Albrecht-Kemper has many more classes and events planned, including a drink and draw art party on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. and a colored pencil workshop on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m.
