This weekend, be entertained while helping the community. It’s the season for giving, and this week’s edition of See St. Joseph dives into the benefits of celebrating the weekend in your hometown.

Let’s start the weekend on the right foot … or perhaps paw? Either way, everyone can share their gratitude for the Thankful for Cuddles therapy session. The Pony Express Therapy Dogs are teaming up with Hazel’s Coffee for a late-morning cuddle session. Whether you’re a college student needing a break from the end of the semester, a stressed-out parent preparing for the holidays, or just in need of a good old cuddle from an adorable dog, all are welcome. There’s no charge, but the groups will be collecting canned food and nonperishable items to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank. The cuddles will be going from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Hazel’s, located at 3829 Frederick Ave.

Saturday evening, lint roll that dog hair off and hop into your little red Corvette, because it’s a night for royalty. Join the Performing Arts Association for the “Purple xPeRIeNCE.” Marshall Charloff channels Prince’s spirit through his vocal abilities and multi-instrumental skills on guitar and piano. Charloff worked alongside Prince on his album “94 East,” so who better to portray the legendary artist? Charloff has been honoring the late artist formerly known as Prince since 2011. The show begins 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Missouri Theater. Tickets can be purchased at paastjo.org.

While the prince of pop is great, maybe you’re more of a classic rock and roll fan. If that’s you, then make some noise for the “Bring the Noyes” fundraising concert. Shoot to Thrill, the area’s top AC/DC tribute band, will be performing at Time Out Entertainment Center for a night of classic rock music for a cause. With every ticket sold, partial proceeds will be going to the Noyes Home for Children. Cry Tough, a tribute to Poison, will open the show at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Time Out Entertainment Center, 3414 S. 22nd St. Tickets can be purchased through the event’s Facebook page.
