Some St. Joseph residents took advantage of Sunday’s weather with a leisurely Sunday Stroll with Tubes Bike Shop.

Tubes Bike Shop invited St. Joseph riders to join in on an easy pace ride through the St. Joseph parkways. Tubes employee and leader of the stroll, Emma Gossett, said her favorite part about the rides is the sense of community it builds.

“When I helped out with a ride in Kansas City called KC Fun Ride for several years and it was a very similar community ride,” Gossett said. “I wanted to bring that energy to St. Joe when I started working here.”

These bike rides are not only great exercise, but also build a sense of community as well as support local businesses. The Sunday Strolls often stop at local coffee shops or ice cream parlors for a short rest and to support local entrepreneurship.

The group rode toward Corby Pond, down the Parkway and up to Krug Park on Sunday afternoon.

Everyone of all ages and skill sets are welcome to join in on the Sunday Strolls.

“It is a ride for any rider, whether you’ve been riding for years. If this is your first day on a bike, come on down. We want you to come live with us,” Gossett said. “We’ve had families come on. We’ve had a little eight year old girl recently, which was awesome … We’ve had faster folks ride where we go on the hills and do a little more adventurous mileage … It’s fun times on a bike. That’s what it comes down to.”
