Are you interested in having access to fresh eggs from your own backyard? An educational session next month can help you get started.

The University of Missouri Extension in Dekalb County and Lincoln University Cooperative Extension plans a Backyard Laying Hen workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Dekalb County Youth Building, 225 Highway 6 in Maysville.

Presentations on candling eggs, raising chicks, flock management, regulations and poultry production will given by Jim Humphrey, field specialist in livestock for MU Extensions and Dr. Tatijana Fisher, state poultry specialist from Lincoln University.
