St. Joseph public schools celebrate 2024 graduating seniors

By Kendra Simpson
St. Joseph’s public high schools held their graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2024 on May 19 at the Civic Arena.
Downtown St. Joseph was quite excitable for a Sunday afternoon as thousands gathered to celebrate their graduating seniors.
Though from different parts of town and wearing different colors, all the students joined together in one great achievement: earning their high school diploma.
All the ceremonies were held at the St. Joseph Civic Arena with Central’s taking place at 1 p.m., Benton’s at 4 p.m. and Lafayette’s at 7 p.m.
Graduating students had plans that varied across the board, such as enlisting in a branch of the military, enrolling in college or joining the workforce.
“In January, I’m going to Jamaica,” Lafayette graduate Lillian Dawson said. “I’m going to travel for a little bit and maybe go to college for psychology.”
While excited to be done with high school, some graduates wanted to share final bits of advice to St. Joseph students.
“Don’t sleep in class,” Lafayette graduate, Araeyah Bushrod said. “I mean I did it, I still graduated, but do your work before you take a nap.”
News Press NOW would like to congratulate all of St. Joseph’s graduating seniors for their accomplishments and with them luck in their post-graduation endeavors.
