Many in St. Joseph gathered downtown to test their luck at getting the most candy at the St. Patrick’s Day parade.

The parade started at Noyes and Frederick Blvd and traveled west down Frederick before concluding at 8th and Frederick. The Dennis Delaney family grand marshaled this year’s parade.

Attendees of all ages had a great time rocking their favorite shades of green and catching the loads of candy and knick knacks that were being thrown.

Attendees BreAnna Reeve, Olivia Stites and Rielly McBee, traveled all the way from Maryville to enjoy the parade.

“It’s just a different atmosphere and I just love being with friends,” said Reeve.

“It was so fun just seeing all the different companies and all the candy that was passed out today,” Stites said.

When it comes to parade floats, they loved them all. Reeve says they all had “good energy” and “they were very excited to be [there].”

“The Saint Joe football, the professional football team that they have. That was a good float,” McBee said.

Reeve, Stites and McBee planned on spending the rest of their evening celebrating with friends and family.

“We may go to Norty’s and then eventually go back to the Maryville St Patrick’s Parade … just hang out at Norty’s with all of our friends and family.”

The kids of St. Joseph had a great time as well.Young brothers Jaxson and Brecken said their favorite part was seeing “the cool jeeps” and getting candy.

The shared favorite between both brothers were jolly ranchers.

Emmett and Logan said their favorite part was all the candy and cars.

“Some people hit the gas, and I was like, wow. And I was so excited,” said Emmett.

Logan says she shared her candy with all her friends except for her gold coins, which are her favorite.
