ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- The Saint Joseph Symphony, along with the Saint Joseph Community Chorus and Benedictine College Chamber Choir, will perform Mozart's "Requiem" on Saturday at the Missouri Theater.

There will be approximately 30 instrumental musicians and 150 singers performing for the hour-long show, which will not include an intermission.

Managing director of the Symphony, Nancy Schmidt-Brunson, explained more about 'Requiem.'

"The Mozart 'Requiem' is really the pièce de résistance of orchestral choral works," Schmidt-Brunson said. "Requiems in general ... these things are very popular for singing."

Schmidt-Brunson implores people to attend the show, even if they don't think they like classical music.

"It should be on everyone's bucket list and I guarantee you if you're one of those people that thinks you do not like classical music, I challenge you," Schmidt-Brunson said. "Get a ticket, come, then call me after the concert ... and tell me you still don't like classical music. I don't think I'm getting any phone calls."

The performance will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 22.

Tickets can be purchased at saintjosephsymphony.org and range from $21 to $45.

The Symphony also offers discounts for several groups. Tickets for students and children are half priced, 10% off for groups of six adults or more, 15% off for Missouri Western faculty and 10% off for large homeschool groups.
