A holiday movie has been filming in the St. Joseph and Savannah area, and production has been sure to involve the community.

‘A Chrismystery’ is a family-friendly film that centers around a woman who moves to a small town and encounters a mystery, as well as the romance between her and a local deputy as they try to solve it.

Producer and second unit director, Peter Foldy, explained that he enjoys working in the area for the location and the people.

“I love when I find a place like Savannah or St. Joe that has kept its ambiance, that has kept its history,” Foldy said. “It’s very sweet, very friendly.”

The film invited many local community members out to work behind the scenes and as background actors and be a part of the movie-making magic.

Baylee Ramseier is a Savannah native and is working on the film as a production assistant.

“It’s cool to have my hometown in a movie and to be able to be a part of it,” Ramseier said.

Duke Fleischer, another producer, is originally from the Midwest and was excited to come back.

“I’m originally from Oklahoma and I haven’t been back to the Midwest like this in a while,” Fleischer said. “So it’s kind of like coming home in a way.”

The movie will be filming in the area until Dec. 20.
