Missouri communities come together for annual winter concert

The Grand River Valley Choir and Orchestra is once again coming together to present its 16th annual winter concert.
The GRVCO is comprised of musicians from 13 Missouri communities such as, Cameron, Chillicothe, Gallatin, Galt, Jamesport, Laredo, Ludlow, Pattonsburg, Princeton, Richmond, St. Joseph, Trenton and Weatherby.
2024’s concert is titled, “Winter Reflections” and is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, in the Trenton R-IX Performing Arts Center.
The doors will open at 3 p.m. after the performers complete a rehearsal of the holiday music. If inclement weather cancels the performance, a back-up date has been scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 21.
GRV Orchestra will begin the program with “Christmas Rocks at the Pops”, “The Christmas Waltz”, “The Nutcracker Suite”, “Poem for Christmas” and “The Polar Express”.
The Choir will then perform “In the First Light”, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, “Still, Still, Still” and “God with God”.
After the Choir finishes, they will combine with the Orchestra to perform “Sing We Now of Christmas” and “Somewhere in My Memory”.
After the concert ends there will be a reception in the commons with punch, cookies and a chance to meet the performers.
GRV Choir Conductor Linda Arnold and GRV Orchestral Conductor Chris Thomas work alongside Sonja Wimer an accompanist for the choir and Master of Ceremonies Barb Cox.
