Robidoux Resident Theatre is inviting the community to the magical world of Narnia starting this weekend.

From Fridays through Sundays, Dec. 6 to 8 and 13 to 15, audiences can enjoy the story of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” at the Ruby Theater. Based on the classic book by C.S. Lewis, the show follows four children as they venture through a wardrobe into Narnia.

Nick Davison, who portrays Aslan in the play, said having a cast full of different age groups has made the experience unique.

“We have a lot of different age groups which is really fun just for all of us to come together and put on a show,” Davison said. “It just shows all the talent throughout decades of people. And I think it’s just been a great experience to have such a diverse age group.”

Parker Sheppard plays Peter in the show and said he’s excited to help bring the story to life.

“The second I saw this came out as the play they were doing, I was like ‘Oh, I have to be in this, I have to get involved in the story,’ ‘cause it’s just magical, it really is,” Sheppard said.

Lucy Goettemoeller said her role is especially personal.

“This character is really special to me ‘cause my name is Lucy and the character’s name is Lucy,” Goettemoeller said. “So it’s really fun.”

Eli Albin, who plays Edmund, said he is excited to act in one of his dream roles.

“It’s special to me because it’s just, it feels like I’ve known this story for a while and I’ve loved this story for a while and I feel like this is a dream role I never knew I had before this,” Albin said.

Jennifer Skeen says she is excited to be back on stage after a five-year acting hiatus, especially for this show.

“This is an amazing story. It is powerful and I’m so honored to be a part of it,” Skeen said. “This show has such a powerful message and it is so timely. And so if we can get people to get just a little tiny piece of the message of the show, then I feel like it’s successful.”

Dinner will be served before the show. Tickets for the performances range from $20 to $44 and can be purchased on RRT’s website at rrtstjoe.org or in person at the Ruby Theater, located at 615 S. 10th St.
