After new sculptures made their debut in Downtown last week, several are getting a little extra recognition.

“Lean on Me” by Gedion Nyanhongo, who is from Fostoria, Ohio, won first place in the 2024-25 Sculpture Walk. His African Opal stone sculpture is located at the corner of Eighth and Felix streets. Nyanhongo won the Sculpture Walk People’s Choice Award for last year’s walk with his piece, “Motherly Love.”

Second place went to Tim Adams from Webster City, Iowa, for his piece “River People.” It is located at the corner of Seventh and Felix streets.

The third-place winner is Clark Martinek, from Mitchell, South Dakota, for his iron sculpture called “Embrace.”

Voting is still open for the People’s Choice Award through Jan. 31, 2025.

If you plan on going on the walk any time soon, be sure to grab a brochure at the Allied Arts Council office, the St. Joseph Convention and Visitors Bureau or the St. Joseph Visitor’s Center. The Sculpture Walk brochure also can be found online.
