Albrecht-Kemper names Membership Exhibition winners

Dave Harris was awarded Best in Show for his work “Pillows” in the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art’s 50th Annual Membership Exhibition.

The show opened on Jan. 19, and awards were presented in 10 categories, including the work honored as Best in Show. The exhibition, which is open through April 14, features 245 pieces by 140 artists.

Each member may submit two original works not previously exhibited at the museum for the exhibition. Entries were evaluated on technique, composition and aesthetic appeal by a panel from the St. Joseph arts community.

Winners in the exhibition’s categories include:

Painting: oil and acrylic: Ruthie Ingrahm, “Bass in E Minor,” first; Denise Chevalier, “Marjory & Tippy,” second; DJ Hyde Matheny, “The Torn Veil,” third; and Elizabeth White, “Creating Growth,” Nora Othic, “Two Belgian Mares” and Holly Ann Schenk, “The Best of Times, The Worst of Times,” honorable mention.

Painting: watercolor: Natalia Loubriel, “Fontana,” first; Candace Castle, “Morning Light from Wyeth Hill,” second; Melinda Hopper, “Ice!,” third; Candace Castle, “Sunset Streetscape,” honorable mention.

Drawing: Ruthie Ingram, “Crown of Beauty #2,” first; Dan Maxey, “Daniel,” second; Victoria Burkert Majewski, “The Lake Contrary Park” and Alex Asher, “Her Apples are Delicious,” tie for third; and Donna Jean Boyer, “Solo,” honorable mention.

Printmaking: Marcella Lally, “Blue Paonia,” first; Jacqueline King, “El hogar en la calle mirto,” second; and Cynthia Pederson, “Retro Oaks,” third.

Admission to the museum is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $7 for students. Museum members and children under age 6 are free. To become a member, visit Albrecht-Kemper.org.
