Food Checkout Day

For the average American, February 9 is Food Checkout Day. That’s the point in the year when the family has earned enough income to pay for their groceries for the entire year. It is a reflection of income, taxes and food prices. The United States is among the earliest of nations to reach this milestone, despite our above average appetites. To celebrate the fact that we have an abundance of safe, nutritious food, some people take this opportunity to donate non-perishable food items to a local food bank or through their local post offices to the ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ food drive.
