A day’s end routine

Almost every night, often just after the kids go to bed, I step outside to survey my little kingdom. It’s my time to reflect and plan. Without fail, I wind up fascinated by simple things around me, and the twists and turns that led me to this point.
A part of my routine is to look into the night sky for the Big Dipper and Little Dipper. They help me bring to mind the big and little things I’m worried about or thankful for. I look for the three stars of Orion’s Belt that remind me to think of certain special intentions. And then I look to the moon, my reminder of family and friends.
Even on overcast nights when I see no celestial bodies, I know they’re there. So, on any given night, wherever friends and family may be, if they look for those fixtures in the sky, we’re connected by sharing something in common.
