Words of wisdom from centenarians

By Corner Post

When individuals reach the age of 100, they are often asked to share some nugget of wisdom or impart some sage advice. Here are a few to consider.

“Don’t look at the calendar. Just keep celebrating every day.” Ruth Coleman, 101

“The possessions you treasure will all belong to someone else or be discarded soon after you die. Value things accordingly.” Anonymous

“Life is fun. You don’t have to be happy all the time; you just need to be satisfied.” Lucille Lewis, 101

“If you’re positive, you can get through things okay. When you think negatively, you’re putting poison in your body.” Elsa Bailey, 100

“How we impact the lives of family, friends, co-workers and strangers will be our most lasting gift (or burden) to future generations. Ruby Lloyd, 100

“Travel while you’re able. The experiences will be more valuable than money will ever be.” Joan Hirsch 102

“Life is never fair. But it is really good, if you make it that way.” Anonymous

“Not all people you know are supposed to be in your life forever. They come in for a while to help us or be helped by us, and then they are gone. When I understood that, I appreciated people more while they were here, and had less regrets when they were gone.” Anonymous
