The Gold Medal. The Lombardi Trophy. The Triple Crown. These prizes go to the most outstanding participants. Assuming you and I haven’t won any of these, does that mean we are losers? Not necessarily. It’s important to have perspective regarding activities in which we engage.

An Olympian’s goal may be winning a Gold Medal. Yours may be completing a 5K Fun Run. Mine may be walking at least three miles over the course of a week. If I improve my balance and stamina, become motivated to lose a little weight, and meet a few nice people, I can consider myself a winner!

Fear of not being good enough keeps many people from even trying. Perfection is the enemy of progress. Don’t wait until the situation is ideal before starting a worthwhile project. Now is a much better time than maybe never.
