County fairs are magical places. Go, and see for yourself. Months of hidden work with 4-H and FFA projects turn into proud moments in the spotlight. Generational and cultural differences disappear when folks whose paths would rarely cross, if ever, come together to support common causes. Squabbling siblings transform into a cohesive team, helping each other get entries ready to be judged. Tasty treats that are far too unhealthy on any other day, in any other setting, suddenly become acceptable (even desirable).
There are few better places to recall some of the things we mean when we talk about “the good ol’ days.” Below are details about some of the county fairs in our region (available at press time).
