Children’s science event returns to Missouri Western

Super Science Saturday returned to Missouri Western State University on Feb. 8 to help teach kids about science.
The annual event included demonstrations, activities and more, as well as a visit from News-Press NOW's Chief Meteorologist Jared Shelton and Meteorologist Payton Counts.
Paige Deka, the president of the Alchemist Club at Missouri Western, was involved in the event and said she hopes that those who attended were inspired.
"I think it's really important for kids to see just how cool science can be," Deka said. "And then it might inspire them to maybe pursue science in the future. I came here as a kid and I really enjoyed it."
Deka shared her favorite part of the event.
"Probably just seeing all the kids and how excited they get," Deka said. "Also, getting to work with the people in my club. This is a really fun way that we can give back to the community."
This is the 25th year for the event, inviting out tons of community children to learn while having fun.
