Richard “Stan” and Lavon (Carter) Wilson celebrate 70 years!
Richard “Stan” and Lavon (Carter) Wilson are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on Sept. 12, 2024. They were married on Sept. 12, 1954, in St. Joseph.
Their children are Richard (Debby), Wichita, Kansas, Robin (Jeff Pettijohn), Country Club, Missouri, and Randy (Carol), North Kansas City, Missouri. Their grandchildren are Brad Wilson (Kodi), Brian Wilson (Jenny), Lori O’Neal (Jeff), Curtis Wilson (Amber), Jason Pettijohn (Caitlin), Brent Wilson (Kayla), Bonnie Thomas (Brian), Scott Wilson (Patty). Their great-grandchildren are Braden Wilson, Tristen Rivers, Carter Wilson, Koehn Wilson, Aubrielle Wilson, Knox Wilson, Ethan Wilson, Gabriel Wilson, Layla Wilson, Payton Wilson, Emily O’Neal, Nicolas O’Neal, Kristopher O’Neal, Aelfric Pettijohn, Emiko Pettijohn, Una Pettijohn and Jonah Thomas.
Stan retired in 1992 from a career at the Missouri Department of Transportation. Lavon is a lifelong homemaker who enjoys sewing, quilting and reading. Together they have perfected the art of the creating the world’s best raspberry jelly straight from the farm.
The couple has faithfully served in many capacities at St. Peter Lutheran Church and served for ten years with Laborers for Christ.
