Financial Planning and Etiquette Dinner held at Peru State College

Peru, NE — Peru State College held its annual Financial Planning and Etiquette Dinner on Wednesday, March 20, which was organized by the Peru State College Foundation, Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Career Services. The event was attended by 23 students, along with faculty, staff and special guests including Dr. Daryl Long, President Evans and Mrs. Evans. The students who attended were from various years and majors, including Criminal Justice, Education, Business Administration, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Marketing, Interdisciplinary Studies and Accounting.
The evening started with a social hour led by Ted Harshbarger, followed by a three-course meal. During the social hour, students learned the proper etiquette for conducting themselves in a career-oriented social gathering. Ted Harshbarger then gave an etiquette presentation that included tips on proper ways to eat in a formal setting and understanding a formal table setting.
After dinner, Mr. Cole Sharp presented the financial planning presentation. He discussed how to save from an early age, saving for big expenses using the “bucket” method and the risks and rewards of using credit cards. Lastly, Dr. Wendy Waugh ended the evening with her “tips” on workplace etiquette once the students land their first job. Overall, it was a highly successful event that provided valuable insights to the students on various aspects of their professional lives.
