Daily forecast for Dec. 30

By Justin Gesling News-Press 3 NOW
Good Thursday Morning!
It’s absolutely pleasant outside! I came to work without needing the heavy jacket. The whole day will feel very similar as lots of clouds and moisture will do a good job of just keeping things even keel.
Thankfully, the systems that have worried us over the last few days are remaining to our northwest. The current plan is for those fronts to stay primarily northwest of Missouri for most of the week. Showers and the occasional thunderstorm are possible tonight going into tomorrow morning. Temperatures will slowly start to lower and soon we’ll be back into those familiar 30s. The best news of all this is the fact that the precipitation will also remain north and west of the viewing area. Some showers may transition into a small sleet or very light snow, but little accumulation is expected.
We’re gonna keep this post fairly short today. It’s a beautiful morning and I am sure many of you have things to wrap up for the new year. Enjoy today, bundle up the rest of the weekend and in 2011. Here soon, we’ll talk about the jet stream, which is the reason why we lucked out on this week’s potential ice storm.
