Ford recalls nearly 43,000 SUVs due to

gas leaks

DETROIT | Ford is recalling nearly 43,000 small SUVs because gasoline can leak from the fuel injectors onto hot engine surfaces, increasing the risk of fires. But the recall does not fix the fuel leaks. It covers certain Bronco Sport SUVs from the 2022 and 2023 model years, as well as Escape SUVs from 2022, all with 1.5-liter engines. Ford says fuel injectors can crack, and gasoline or vapor can accumulate near ignition sources.

Dealers will install a tube to let gas flow away from hot surfaces to the ground. They’ll also update software to detect a fuel pressure drop. If that happens, the software will disable the high pressure fuel pump, reduce engine power and cut temperatures in the engine compartment. Owners were to be notified starting April 1.

Former Trump executive sentenced to 5 months for lying

NEW YORK | Retired Trump Organization executive Allen Weisselberg has received a five-month jail sentence for lying under oath during testimony in a lawsuit brought against Donald Trump by New York’s attorney general. Weisselberg was previously the chief financial officer at Trump’s real estate company.

Weisselberg pleaded guilty last month to perjury and was sentenced Wednesday and led away in handcuffs. It’ll be Weisselberg’s second time behind bars. The 76-year-old served 100 days in jail last year for dodging taxes on $1.7 million in company perks.

Trump’s lawyers have accused the Manhattan district attorney of deploying “strong-armed tactics against an innocent man.” Weisselberg admitted lying about how Trump’s Manhattan penthouse came to be overvalued on his financial statements.
