Bishop LeBlond v. DeKalb

The Golden Eagles were afforded a bye week for the first round of their district tournament after a superb regular season in which they went 7-1. DeKalb notched just its second win of the season after a 52-20 win in the first round.

St. Joseph Christian v. Plattsburg

In districts, it’s not unusual for two teams to meet in the playoffs that did not match up in the regular season. That is the case when Plattsburg heads to St. Joseph Christian to face a Lions team that earned a bye week in the first round of the district tournament.

Mid-Buchanan v. East Buchanan

This will be the second time the Dragons and Bulldogs play each other in just two weeks. The regular season finale on Oct. 25 went to the Dragons, completing their perfect regular season. The Bulldogs will look to get revenge in Faucett with the stakes much higher.

Savannah at Smithville

Following the 77-0 walloping of Southeast last Friday, the Savages will travel to Smithville to face a Warriors team that also won in shutout fashion in the first week of postseason play. This will be the first matchup between Savannah and Smithville since the 2017 Class 4 State Tournament.

Central at Platte County The Indians won their first district game since 2017 last Friday when they beat Winnetonka by just one score. Central now travels roughly 30 minutes south to face a Platte County team that has yet to lose a game this season and is averaging over 50 points per game on the scoreboard.

Riverside at St. Mary’s-Colgan

The Cyclones are now in the second round of the 1A tournament in Kansas after defeating Jefferson County North 42-22 last week. Riverside will travel to Pittsburg, Kansas, to face a St. Mary’s-Colgan team that hasn’t lost a game since Sept. 13.

Missouri Western v. Northwest Missouri State

Both teams head into this Battle of Highway 71 showdown at Spratt Stadium in different boats. Northwest was able to snap a two-game losing streak last week, whereas the Griffs fell apart in the final minutes against nationally-ranked and undefeated Central Oklahoma 37-34 in overtime.

Benedictine v. Central Methodist

A late gamble by Benedictine didn’t pay off for the Ravens, as they avoided overtime but fell to MidAmerica Nazarene 48-47 in a heavyweight fight that went all the way to the waning seconds. The Ravens return home to face a Central Methodist squad that just got its first win of the season last Saturday.
