Central v. Winnetonka
The Indians get to host a district game for the second year in a row. For Central, it’s a rematch with a team they already beat by 26 in the first game of the season back in August. Winnetonka got right in the middle of the regular season, but comes into Friday’s district game with two straight losses.
East Buchanan v. Trenton
The Bulldogs get a chance to go on another lengthy playoff run, and it starts with a home contest against Trenton. These two teams did not play each other in the regular season. East Buchanan comes off of a loss last week against rival Mid-Buchanan in a low-scoring affair.
Savannah v. Southeast
The Savages enter districts at 6-3. Each loss Savannah suffered came at the hands of teams who are going to be top seeds in their own districts. Savannah gets a more-than-favorable matchup with a Southeast team that did not tally a single win in the entire regular season.
Benton @ Cameron
It may not have been a regular to remember for Benton, but the Cardinals did show some character when they won its regular season finale against Chillicothe last Friday. This 4-5 matchup could go either way, but Cameron does get the home field advantage.
Lafayette @ Maryville
Lafayette got off to a strong start to the regular season, winning two of its first three games, but quickly fell off. Not only do they play Maryville again in the first round of the Class 3 District 8 tournament, they have to go to the Spoofhounds this time. The Fighting Irish were shut out last week 42-0 at the hands of Maryville.
Riverside v. Jefferson County North
The first round of the KSHSAA Class 1A tournament features a 6-2 Cyclones team versus a 5-3 Chargers team. Each team enters this contest following a loss a week ago, but Jefferson County North has lost its last two games heading into Friday.
